Thank you for this essay on 'Messiah.' I first heard it ten years ago and it, firstly, made me a classical music fan and secondly, ensured that Handel's oratorio would be an integral part of my listening at Christmas. Merry Christmas and thank you!
And merry Christmas to you. In all my years of listening to Messiah, I never heard this story. It touches my heart, however, because my mother volunteered at New York’s Foundling. hospital for many years and working with children gave her much pleasure though she never listened to Handel.
Isn’t that an amazing story? And so is the story of your mother’s work at New York’s Foundling Hospital. These are the things that bring beauty, light, and love into our world. Thank you for reading and sharing today!
I saw The Messiah performed in a beautiful concert hall years ago and it was an unforgettable experience. Thank you for sharing the history. I listen to the classic Christmas hymns and songs and can't get Mary Did You Know out of my head! Thanks again for the thoughtful and interesting posts !
See what I mean about ear worms? I’ve got one or two playing in my head from the time I wake up. Ah, but isn’t it nice to experience Messiah in a beautiful setting as you did? I must fo that again soon instead of relying entirely on home video.
Thanks for reading and sharing your thoughts today. All the best to you in your life and in your own creative work. Your paintings are lovely!
Your Christmas Eve essay is a lovely, meaningful gift for us all. I listened while I had my coffee this morning, and my own Christmas spirit went up several notches as a result. Thank you and Merry Christmas, Andrew!
It’s so gratifying to know today’s post added to your Christmas spirit today. And to think, I was tempted not to post anything because everyone is so busy. Thank you for reading and for letting me know my offering was not in vain. All the best of this beautiful season to you and yours!
Merry Christmas Andrew you fine writer!
