I can't imagine the energy it takes to be famous for being famous - not for having an amazing skill at music, acting, humanitarian actions, or other notable accomplishments - just for your name. So much emptiness is hard to fill. You have to have some sympathy for her and such acts of desperation
Oh yes, I agree. I’m glad you mentioned that. Funny thing: while reading up on Marilyn, I felt enormous sympathy for her. But I don’t immediately feel that when it comes to KK.
Thank you for reading and for reminding me of the importance of compassion for living icons too.
My first reaction when I saw Kim in Marilyn’s dress was embarrassment for Kim. That dress is iconic, and to me it was a pitiful attempt for attention and press coverage. I might be judging her too harshly, but that was how I saw it. Loved your take on it, Andrew.
Thanks for taking the time to read and share your thoughts. Yes, now that you mention it, I guess I was embarrassed for her, too. All other considerations aside, she failed to evoke Marilyn in any way, even though she changed her hair color.
But I don't mean to trash her. I really feel an event like that bears looking into at a deeper level. Says so much about what we seem to value. Anyway, thanks again!
