It devastates me to think I've gone so long and didn't know Laura Wheeler Waring! Thank you for writing this. I'm familiar with the story of Marian Anderson, but Laura is entirely new to me. I watched the clip from her Easter 1939 concert at the Lincoln Memorial, and it gave me goosebumps. This is one of my favorite art drops! I had heard of and knew a little about the Harlem Renaissance, and loved the PBS segment you linked to. Wonderful way to start my day - thank you, Andrew.
