As some psychologists point out, your costume may reveal more about you than you realize. Some disowned or hidden aspect of your personality perhaps. Your shadow—a part of yourself you cannot see.
For a news anchor locked into a goody-two-shoes, girl-next-door persona, Guthrie’s decision to portray a witch was a breakout performance. Did the costume amount to an unconscious confession on her part?
No one but Savannah Guthrie herself will ever know the answer to that question. But she certainly got “wicked” in a live interview with Vice President Kamala Harris this week (January 20, 2022). That interview looked like it might be Guthrie’s attempt to reprise her much-praised performance as moderator of Donald Trump’s Town Hall Meeting during the 2020 presidential election. If so, the results were…awkward, at best.
